The Path Amongst Notes. Zygmunt Krauze

Droga między nutami. Zygmunt Krauze
dir. Jan Sosiński/Poland/2018/72 min.

Zygmunt Krauze is doubtlessly one of the most successful Polish composers of our time. He studied composition and piano at the Fryderyk Chopin Music Academy in Warsaw and in Paris under Nadia Boulanger. He is the author of „unistic music” based on the theory and work of Polish painter and art theoretician Władysław Strzemiński. Krauze’s works include among others: five operas, several instrumental concertos and chamber works. Together with architects he also composed spatial music, which was presented in Poland, Austria and France. In 1966 Zygmunt Krauze won the First Prize of the Gaudeamus Competition in Holland. Since then he has continued his carrier as a pianist performing mainly contemporary music. In 1967 he founded The Warsaw Music Workshop ensemble, which commissioned works from over 100 composers. He was its artistic director and pianist for over 20 years.
